Summary:

RentalEngine is an online platform matching qualified prospective renters directly with the leasing offices of buildings in New York City. Apartment inventory is added to the site by partnering landlords that have agreed to join the service. As RentalEngine.com was approaching technical completion, founder Justin Schuss needed to begin prospecting for housing partners and required a sales kit that would perform for him.

The Media Incubator created a two-document sales kit: a sales presentation for the landlords and a 1-2 page overview for use either in advance of a meeting or as follow-up. Content development was supplemented by an additional market research component. Research included data on current rental housing market trends, key figures on the size of the Manhattan rental market, consumer use of the Internet for real estate search, advertising spending by real estate professionals, a competitive overview, and online resources for the real estate industry.

Our goal was to frame the unique functionality of RentalEngine within a more cohesive story that illustrated the burgeoning market for online real estate services and differentiated RentalEngine as a true partner for New York City landlords with several competitive advantages. The resulting materials enable RentalEngine to boost their sales efforts, enhancing their message from purely describing the service to actually defining a valuable business opportunity to potential partners.
